To provide a heat developing and recording device which can be made compact, can perform speedy processing, and makes stable a track of a sheet type photothermographic material conveyed after being heated to suppress curling.
The heat developing and recording device is equipped with an exposure means for forming a latent image and a heat developing means for heating the sheet type photothermographic material formed with the latent image to develop it. The heat developing means has a temperature raising section 50 which has a heat source heating the sheet type photothermographic material formed with the latent image and a conveying means for conveying it, a warmth retaining section 53 which has a heat source for keeping warm the sheet type photothermographic material heated during the conveyance in the temperature raising section, and a cooling section 54 which has a conveyance path where the heated sheet type photothermographic material is cooled, a guide means for guiding the photothermographic material and a conveying means driven to convey the photothermographic material. The warmth retaining section has a first guide 53f having curvature for guiding the sheet type photothermographic material and a nearly linear second guide 53g which has curvature and is arranged downstream from the first guide, and the second guide and the conveyance path at the cooling section are constituted nearly in a straight line.
