PURPOSE: To form heat transfer fins efficiently and improve heat transfer rate by arranging a plurality of shaved-up heat transfer fins in staggered manner on the surface of a heat exchanger main body with flow passages of a cooler evaporator, etc., using a special cutting tool.
CONSTITUTION: On the upper and lower surfaces of a heat exchanger main body 1, staggeredly-arranged heat transfer fins 4 are projected by shaving up in strip form. By so doing, heat transfer rate is improved. For shaving up these heat transfer fins 4, is used a heat transfer fin forming tool B whose cutting edges are composed of plural front line edges 5 which are located at certain intervals in a line almost perpendicular to a cutting direction a and rear line edges 6 which are at a certain distance behind the front line edges 5 and arraged at positions between the front line edges 5. By using this cutting tool B, a pair of front and rear ones of the staggeredly-arranged fins are formed per cutting movement, so that the fins can be formed efficiently.
