PURPOSE: To obtain a heat exchanger capable of the functions of the both condenser and evaporator of freezing cycle and to prevent the direct influence on the dynamic characteristic of said freezing cycle of the heat transfer characteristic of a heat exchanger that is caused by the variation of natual air velocity.
CONSTITUTION: The heat transfer pipe 2 of freezing cycle is placed over the whole range of the upper and lower sections of the inside of the termal siphon container installed perpendicular or inclined, and working refrigerant 7 is passed therethrough. Said heat transfer pipe 2C and the inner face of the wall of a container 1 are interconnected by porous material (wick) 3, which is fitted on the right and left portions of said heat transfer pipe 1 alternately. When this heat exchanger operates as condenser, working refrigerant 7 in gaseous condition flows in said heat transfer pipe 2 and is condensed, and the medium liquid 4 enclosed in the bottom section of said container 1 boils and rises as gas 5 and changes into condensed liquid 6 at the inner face of the wall of said container 1. Said condensed liquid 6 is let flow down, carried to an upper heat transfer pipe 2b by said wick 3, and evaporated again.
