PURPOSE: To shorten preheating time and to facilitate manufacture by forming the resistance heater layer of a heat fixing roll with a prescribed material by plastic working and forcing a hollow core into the inside of it and fixing the core.

CONSTITUTION: A heat fixing roll consists of a hollow core 1 made of a metallic material, such as aluminum or stainless steel, a heat-resistant insulating layer 2, a cylindrical resistance heater layer 3 fitted to the outer circumference of the layer 2, and an offset preventing layer 4. The material of the layer 3 is one of plastically workable materials of nichrome of class 1, chromium of class 2, iron- chromium-aluminum of class 1, and the layer 3 is formed by plastic deformation. As a result, its manufacture is easy and a preheating time is reduced.
