To reduce energy loss when stopping the start of a heat pump device by generating electric power by an expander integrated compressor.
This heat pump device is provided with a control valve 510 for controlling a communicating passage for communicating between an inlet and an outlet of a compression mechanism 501 mutually and communication of the communicating passage. When the expansion compressor 509 is stopped, the control valve 510 is opened, and electric power is generated by an electric motor 508 by utilizing difference between high pressure and low pressure of refrigerant and is stored in an electricity storage means 514. When the expansion compressor 509 is started, the electric power is used as power for driving the expansion compressor 509 to operate a heat pump highly efficiently by reducing energy loss.
