Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form the ceramic coated film having excellent peeling resistance and heat insulating characteristic by applying a ZnO2 film consisting of a specific compsn. produced by a sol-gel method on a metallic base material having an intricate shape.

CONSTITUTION: A heat insulating ceramic coating for preventing the dissipation of combustion heat is applied on the surface of a metallic member 1 in order to improve the thermal efficiency of the metallic member having the intricate shape of an internal combustion engine, etc. This ceramic coated film 2 is made of the compsn. consisting of a binder 3 which consists essentially of ZrO2 and contains SiO2 as 0 to 50vol.% of the total volume of the binder and the ZnO2 fillers which consist of ZrO2 fillers at 20 to 70vol.% of the entire film, are formed by a sol-gel method, contain fibrous fillers 4 having 1 to 50μm size and 10 to 5000μm length as the ZrO2 fillers at least at 10vol.% of the total fillers and consist of the balance fine particulate ZrO2 fillers 5 having 1 to 50μm average grain size.
