PURPOSE: To obtain heat-resistant cloth for high-temperature gas usable as a sealing material for a long period of time in a severe high-temperature gas atmosphere applied by given pressure and a leak preventing structure of a device for preheating scrap as its example of use.
CONSTITUTION: Heat-resistant cloth for high-temperature gas is obtained by piling nonwoven fabric made of heat-resistant glass fibers on one face of asbestos cloth having at least the other face sprayed with a heat-resistant metal foil and sticking the nonwoven fabric to the asbestos fabric. A leak preventing structure of a device for preheating scrap is obtained by piling the nonwoven fabric made of heat-resistant glass fibers on the outside surface of asbestos cloth having at least the inside face sprayed with a heat-resistant metal foil, sewed and seams are covered with a heat-resistant resin coating film in such a way that the seams are closed to give a material. The material is made into a flexible cylindrical accordion-fold member. The bottom edge of the accordion-fold member is hermetically attached to a hood and the top edge of the accordion-fold member is airtightly fixed to an exhaust duct to cover the gap between the hood and the exhaust duct.
