To produce a flame retardant composite nonwoven fabric having flame retardance and heat resistance and further excellent mechanical characteristics and dimensional stability in combination.
This heat-resistant composite nonwoven fabric is obtained by carrying out the partial hot pressure welding treatment in a continuous filament nonwoven web, thereby forming a continuous filament nonwoven web layer having hot pressure welded points, then laminating staple fiber nonwoven web layers having the flame retardance imparted thereto to both surfaces of the resultant continuous filament nonwoven web layer, performing the pressurized liquid treatment of the formed laminate and thereby forming three-dimensional tangles among the constituent filaments of the continuous filament nonwoven web layer and the constituent staple fibers of the staple fiber nonwoven web layers and the mutual constituent fibers of the staple fiber nonwoven web layers, integrating the filaments with the staple fibers as a whole, subsequently carrying out hot pressure welding treatment and regulating the bulk density to 0.1-0.7g/cm3.
