To provide polyester fiber cords which maintain characteristics such as dimensional stability, high strength and durability, are simultaneously thermally not melted at high temperature, and have excellent heat resistance, and to provide a material useful as the belt and carcass member of a tire from the fiber cords.
The heat-resistant cross-linked polyester fiber cords which have excellent heat resistance are characterized by (1) immersing polyester fibers comprising a copolyester in a compound having at least two unsaturated groups, irradiating the treated fibers with electron beams or γ-rays, and then processing the treated fibers into the cords, or (2) immersing polyester fiber cords preliminarily treated with a carrier agent in a compound having at least two unsaturated groups, and then irradiating the treated fiber cords with electron beams or γ-rays.
