Title:
HEAT TRANSFER FLUID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01261490
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve flowing characteristics and thermal stability over a comparatively wide temperature range by containing the mixture of an aryl compound free from any specified substitution.

CONSTITUTION: The mixture of biphenyl in 5-30 wt.%, diphenyl oxide in 25-75 wt.%, 0-ta-phenyl in 10-50 wt.% and m-ta-phenyl in 5-25 wt.% is impurities are oxidized in contact manner at an elevated temperature in the presence of a catalytic system composed of oxygen and Co ions and an organic acid and diluted and the water and organic acid are removed so that a polyphenyl mixture can be provided. Next, this mixture is heated to an alevated temperature in the presence of ferrobasic radical and diluted, the desired polyphenyl is removed so as to provide a heat transfer fluid having 2-5 phenyl radicals, the low value of hydrogen permeation speed of from 350° to 400°C and pump movability less than -10°C while having an alkyl substitution-containing aryl compound content less than 2000 ppm and hydrogen permeation speed below 6×10-4-l-Torr/hr-cm2.
