Title:
HEAT TREATMENT OF IRON AND STEEL MEMBER HAVING HEAT RESISTANCE, CORROSION RESISTANCE AND HIGH TENSILE FORCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07197281
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce iron and steel members having heat resistance, corrosion resistance and high tensile force by sticking and forming Al on the surfaces of the iron and steel members, and heating the members under specific conditions to form an iron-Al alloy, then subjecting the members to oil quenching and then to tempering at a specific temp.

CONSTITUTION: The iron and steel members worked to prescribed shapes are immersed into the molten Al or the Al layers are stuck and formed on the surfaces of the members by thermal spraying of Al or Al alloy. The entire part of the members is then heated at an austenite structure temp. and is held for several tens minutes to several hours to diffuse the stuck Al and to form the iron-Al alloy, and simultaneously, the members of the austenite structure are oil quenched. After the oil quenching, the members of the martensite structure are further tempered and the tempering is ended at about 500°C tempering temp. or below to form the sorbite structure at which the desired high tensile force is obtainable. As a result, the iron and steel members having the heat resistance, the corrosion resistance and the high tensile force are obtd.
