Title:
HEAT WRITING LIQUID CRYSTAL LIGHT VALVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6236633
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve display contrast and resolution by using laser light having two different wavelengths as writing light sources, arranging the 3rd substrate, between two substrates, and forming a resin film and a light absorbing film on the surface of each substrate.

CONSTITUTION: The light absorbing films 5, 5' and resin films 4 are formed of the glass substrated 1a, 1b on the laser light irradiation side and the plastic substrate 8 arranged on the center of a liquid crystal layer. Furthermore, portions consisting of only the film 4 and portions coated with the film 5 are alternately formed on the surface of each film 4. Consequently, escape of heat generated in the films 5, 5 in the direction to the substrate 1a or 1b and in the surface direction is reduced and the generated heat is effectively used for the temperature rise of liquid crystal 7, so that a scattering kernel is formed further deeper. Since the heat generated in the films 5, 5' heats the liquid crystal 7, the scattering kernel is formed almost over the whole liquid crystal layer and the display contrast is improved. Since each picture element is constituted of the film 5 alternately formed with the film 4 and the expansion of the heat in the surface direction is reduced, the resolution is improved. A writing laser light is obtained by synthesizing two pcs. of laser light.
