Title:
HEATING METHOD FOR NOZZLE FOR CHARGING MOLTEN STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5870953
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent solidifying of molten steel in a nozzle for charging of molten steel and closing of said nozzle by forming the nozzle of a resistance heating element, inserting the nozzle into holding bricks made of refractories having conductivity, and heating the entire part of the nozzle by conducting electricity thereto.

CONSTITUTION: A nozzle 1 for charging of molten steel such as tundish is manufactured of refractory materials having excellent heat conductivity such as Al2O3-C, or SiC-C-SiO2 and the nozzle is used by inserting the same into nozzle holding bricks 2. The bricks 2 are constitued of refractory bricks 2' of excellent conductivity on the inner side and the surfaces 2' in contact with molten steel is constituted of refractory bricks consisting of an electrical insulator or poor conductor. In the stage of using said nozzle 1, electricity is conducted thereto by a cable 4 connected to a terminal 3 and the entire part of the nozzle 1 is heated by resistance heat, whereby closing of the nozzle by the Al2O3, etc. in the molten steel and the interruption of charging work are prevented.
