PURPOSE: To obtain a roll with low cost without thermal destruction, with uniformly thinned sleeve, by forming a roll sleeve and a roll flange or a shaft core for a fixing roll in one body with the forging method.
CONSTITUTION: To one end of a roll sleeve 21 formed with a roll flange 22 in one body with the forging method, a roll flange 22' is fixed with screw, calking or bolt and nut via a flange 28, and a heater with an infrared ray lamp heater 24 is provided between the flanges 22 and 22'. Since the roll sleeve and the roll flange or a shaft core are formed in one body with the forging method, no destruction due to repetitive thermal history takes place and since the thickness is uniform, the total thickness can be made thin, and the waiting time for the usage as a fixing roll is short and the power consumption is also less.
