Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of a steel plate by arranging plural slit grooves on a clamp face of the device in parallel with a steel transfer direction to form a non-contact face with a steel and reducing the contact area with a steel face so as to suppress the local temp. drop of a steel on the clamp face and to prevent generation of a surface flaw.
SOLUTION: Plural split grooves 20 are arranged on the clamp face of upper/ lower clamp plates 17, 18 of a pair of clamp devices 11a, 11b to clamp the rear end of a preceding steel plate 3a and the tip end of a succeeding steel plate 3b, a contact face in contact with the steels 3a, 3b with the slit in between are formed in plural lines. At this time, the width of the contact face of each line is set to 2-25mm, the area ratio of the contact face to an effective clamp area is set to 1/3-1/9. Further, a depth of the slit groove is set to a range not to impair strength of the clamp part. Also, a contact face pressure at the clamp. face is set to ≤3kg/mm2.
