To provide a new worktop enabling the height of the cooking table portion of the worktop to be easily adjusted by means of a simple mechanism, allowing any user to use the cooking table in a comfortable attitude whether he or she is a healthy person or wheelchair user, and avoiding an increase in manufacturing cost.
This worktop 1 comprises legs 3 having an enlarged portion 2 into which a wheelchair can advance, a supporting frame portion 4 placed over the legs 3, a cooking table 5 supported in a horizontal position by the supporting frame portion 4, and a handle 6 for manual rotating operations. The worktop 1 also includes a lifting drive mechanism portion 7 using a pinion 11 and a rack 12 for driving the cooking table 5 to lift or lower it by converting torque applied to the handle 6 into a vertical force, and transmitting the force to the cooking table 5 being supported by the supporting frame portion 6.
