Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a helmet for baseball improved in head cooling effect without impairing its impact resistance to a thrown ball.
SOLUTION: This helmet for baseball is made up of a resin shell 1 composed integrally of a hemispherical body 10 to clover the upper part of the head and a visor 12 projected forward from the body 10, a hemispherical liner 2 on the inner side of the body 10 of the shell 1, a thin 1st pad 3 provided along the inner side of the liner 2 and to cover the upper part of the head, a thick 2nd pad 4 provided on the inner side of the liner 2 and to cover both the temporal region and the front and back of the head, and a covering material 5 to cover the 2nd pad 4 from the inside. In this helmet, the liner 2 is provided with a groove 23 running from the front of the head for the liner 2 via the top of the head through the back of the head, and both the front and back of the head for the 2nd pad 4 are cut off to form an air channel 6. The tops of the head for the shell 1, liner 2 and 1st pad 3 are provided with penetrated holes 34, 24, 14, communicating with the air channel 6, respectively, and the entrance width of the groove 23 in the vicinity of the visor 12 is set at 40-100mm.
