Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new DNA originated from non-A non-B hepatitis virus, useful as a primer or probe for the diagnosis of non-A non-B hepatitis virus and extremely useful for the preparation of vaccine for preventing the infection with non-A non-B hepatitis.
CONSTITUTION: The DNA originated from non-A non-B hepatitis virus and having the base sequence of formula. The DNA is preferably produced by extracting an RNA from the liver or serum of patient or chimpanzee affected with non-A non-B hepatitis, synthesizing a cDNA from the RNA, amplifying the DNA by PCR process, etc., screening the gene fragment negative to anti- hepatitis C virus antibody from a number of obtained gene fragments, integrating the screened fragment into a cloning vector, transforming a host such as E.co1i and allowing the transformant to produce the gene.
