PURPOSE: The titled composition, containing a thiolcarbamate type compound and a diphenyl ether type compound or anilide type compound as active constituents, and capable of exhibiting remarkable synergistic and potentiating effects and controlling annual and perennial weeds.
CONSTITUTION: A herbicidal composition containing (A) a thiolcarbamate type compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are H or methyl; n is an integer 2W12) or formula II (m is an integer 4W10), (B) a diphenyl ether type compound of formula III (X is H or halogen; p is an integer 0W5; Y is H, methoxyl or carboxymethyl) or an anilide type compound of formula IV (R is alkyl; q is an integer 1W5) as active constituents. Preferably, the weight ratio between the component (A) and the compound of formula III is 0.8W1.2, and the weight ratio between the component (A) and the compound of formula IV is 0.3W0.9 for obtaining the stable herbicidal effect and improving the safety for paddy rice. The resultant composition exhibits improved herbicidal effect on weeds which are controlled poorly by the respective simple chemicals, and weeds of somewhat advanced growth can be controlled.
