PURPOSE: To provide the titled agent having strong herbicidal activity to weeds from the emergence stage to the sprouting stage, and having no phytotoxicity, by using a compound such as 1-(sec-butyl)-3-(m,α,α-trimethylbenzyl)thiourea, etc. as active component.
CONSTITUTION: A herbicide for paddy rice field, effective to the weeds of Gramineae family and Cyperaceae family, e.g. cockspur-grass, slender spinkerush, etc. is obtained by using a component of formulaI(X is H, Cl, methyl or trifluoromethyl; R1 and R2 are H, 1W16C alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, tolyl, chlorophenyl, dichlorophenyl, difluromethoxyphenyl, or xylyl) as an active component. The compound of formulaIis prepared, e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II with the amine of formula III. The agent suppresses the germination of the seed and the growth of the germ of weed.
