To provide a novel heteroaromatic ring derivative as a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) material capable of efficiently up-converting a triplet exciton to a singlet exciton, and an organic EL element employing the same.SOLUTION: A heteroaromatic ring derivative having a metal coordination function is represented by general formula (1) in the figure. In the formula, Arrepresents a monovalent heterocyclic group of a pyridine ring, pyrazine ring, pyridazine ring, pyrimidine ring or the like; Arrepresents a divalent heterocyclic group of a pyridine ring, pyrazine ring, pyridazine ring, pyrimidine ring or the like; and Donor represents a donor group of an acridine skeleton, phenoxazine skeleton, carbazole skeleton or the like.SELECTED DRAWING: None
