Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance optical density and contrast by incorporating a prescribed effective amount of a specified dot quality enhancing agent in the photographic sensitive material comprising a silver halide photographic emulsion.
CONSTITUTION: The photographic sensitive material is obtained by forming the silver halide photographic emulsion layer on the surface of a support and this material contains a prescribed amount of the dot quality enhancing agent represented by formula I in which R1 is an aromatic group; and A is an optionally substituted aromatic ring; each of the 2 carboxyl groups links to the different carbon atoms of the aromatic ring, thus permitting good optical density and contrast to be obtained.
