Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a high ductility Co alloy contg. no eutectic carbide and having a specified space between secondary dendrite arms by melting a Co alloy contg. specified amounts of Cr and C and contg. eutectic carbide in its equilibrium state at room temp. and by cooling the molten alloy at a specified cooling rate until the alloy is solidified.

CONSTITUTION: A Co alloy consisting of, by weight, 15W40% Cr, 0.15W1% C and ≥40% Co and contg. eutectic carbide in its equilibrium state at room temp. is melted, and the molten alloy is cooled at ≥10°K/sec cooling rate until the alloy is solidified to obtain a high ductility Co alloy contg. practically no eutectic carbide and having ≤10μm space between secondary dendrite arms. To the co alloy may be added 3W15% W and/or Mo, ≥1% B, 0W20% Ni, 0W1.0% Nb, 0W 1.0% Zr, 0W1.0% Ta, 0W3% Ti and 0W3% Al.
