Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent polymer having excellent luminous efficiency.
SOLUTION: This invention relates to an electroluminescent polymer that has a chemical structure of poly(pphenylenevinylene) units as the main chain and the phenylsilicone bearing aliphatic alkyl groups as the side chain and shows improved luminous efficiency and excellent color tuning. The new electroluminescent polymer according to this invention comprises the poly(p- phenylenevinylene) as the main chain and an alkyl group-bearing phenylsilicone as the side chains. The aliphatic alkyl group is selected from the group consisting of liner or branched chain alkyl groups and fluorinated alkyl groups. The electroluminescent polymers according the this invention or other polymers thereof are prepared by copolymerization of the polymer comprising the (p- phenylenevinylene) as the main chain and the aliphatic alkyl group-introduced phenylsilicone as the side chains with MEH-PPV(methoxyethylhexyloxy-PPV).
