Abstract:

To obtain a high-frequency region electromagnetic radar diagnostic method, in which exfoliations or cracks at the inside of a conrete structure, especially cracks in the shallow part of a tunnel-covering concrete structure, can be detected accurately, with high resolution and with high directivity.

On the surface of the structure, pulse waves are transmitted by an antenna, and reflected waves which are returned are received by the antenna. High-frequency components are extracted from a received reflected wave signal. The exfoliation at the inside of the structure or the cracks in its shallow part is detected.
