Abstract:
To provide a high hardness sintered body made mainly of diamond, which is a massive tool material that can be manufactured and processed under a same condition as a condition for conventional cobalt-system PCD and has appropriate conductivity.SOLUTION: (1) A composite material massive body is made mainly of diamond integrated through heating processing by combustion synthesis while bringing starting materials including diamond particles and transition metal materials into close contact, which is a high hardness massive tool material, where the diamond particles are joined each other and then integrated through transition metal carbide. (2) Starting materials containing diamond particles and transition metal powder are exposed to a reaction temperature of 2000°C or higher increased by the combustion synthesis, ceramic phases containing the transition metal carbide is formed by reaction between components of the starting materials, and the diamond particles are joined through the ceramic phases to make a diamond sintered composite material, where the ceramic phases are melted at least partially and are integrated as a whole.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
