Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the fuel injection rate changeable within a wide range by making possible to control the pressure between a needle valve for opening and closing a fuel injection port and a piston for regulating its list amount and the pressure on the piston rear side by means of respective separate solenoid valves.

CONSTITUTION: A needle valve 25 for opening and closing a fuel injection port 2, and a piston 26 having a fuel port control valve body 31 integrally protruded on the rear end which is made into contact with the needle valve from the rear to regulate its lift amount are fitted into a cylinder chamber 21 continued to the fuel injection port 2 of a nozzle 7 forming the lower part of the body 6 of a fuel injection valve. The middle of a first fuel return passage 34 for leaking the fuel between the needle valve 25 and the piston 26 in the cylinder chamber 21 to the rear side of a rear inner cap member 18 is opened and closed by a first valve body 36 driven by a first electromagnet 19. Also, the middle of a second fuel return passage 37 for communicating the piston rear side part of the cylinder 21 with the rear side of a front inner cap member 15 is opened and closed by a second valve body 39 driven by a second electromagnet 17.
