PURPOSE: To produce a roll material for hot rolling excellent in seizing resistance at high temps., furthermore excellent in wear resistance and cracking resistance, and high in aptitude as the one for a work roll in which the temp. of the material to be rolled lies in the region of ≥850°C in particular.
CONSTITUTION: This is a seizing resistant roll material for hot rolling having a compsn. contg., by weight, 2.0 to 4.0% C, 1.0 to 5.0% Si, 0.1 to 2.0% Mn, 0.1 to 6.0% Cr, 0.1 to 6.0% Mo, 0.1 to 6.0% V and 1.0 to 8.0% Ni, furthermore contg., at need, 0.1 to 6.0% W, 0.1 to 4.0% Nb and 0.1 to 10% Co, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and moreover, the method for producing the high seizing resistant roll material for hot rolling in which a part of Si is added by Si inoculation for effectively promoting the crystallization and precipitation of graphite for improving the seizing resistance in said high seizing resistant roll material for hot rolling is provided.
