PURPOSE: To produce an Al alloy material excellent in cold and high temp. strength and durability,and furthermore excellent in wear resistance by mixing Al alloy powder having a specified compsn. with hard particles in fine granular shape in a specified ratio and executing compacting,
CONSTITUTION: The powder of an Al alloy having a compsn. contg., by wt., 3.5 to 5.5% Cu, 0.5 to 2.5% Mg, 0.02 to 0.5% V so as to satisfy the conditions of 10≤(Cu%+Mg%)/V%≤230, contg. 0.3 to 1.0% Mn and <0.5% Si or furthermore contg. one or two kinds of Ti and Zr by 0.02 to 0.7%, and the balance Al is uniformly mixed with SiC, Si3N4, Al2O3 or the other hard particles having 1 to 8μm average particle size and≥500 Hv hardness by 0.5 to 5% volume ratio. This mixed powder is filled into a can made of Al, is subjected to vacuum degassing treatment, e.g. at 480°C for 1hr to remove air and moisture in the can, is thereafter subjected to extrusion and is compacted into a bar shape or the like. This compacted part is subjected to age hardening treatment to improve its strength, by which the lightweigh Al alloy material excellent in strength and wear resistance can be obtd.
