Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve uniformity of combustion start, combustion period, combustion timing or the like, with the high swirl state of fluid flow in the combustion volume of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: The combustion volume of an internal combustion engine 100 can be defined by at least a cylinder wall and a first piston 220 of a cylinder. A swirl port 302 supplies fluid to the combustion volume through a swirl port outlet 308. The supplied fluid is orientated so as to rotate around the peripheral part of the cylinder at a predetermined flow rate and at predetermined angle to the tangent of the curve of the cylinder wall, thereby to generate vortex motion in the combustion volume.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
