Title:
HIGH TEMPERATURE IMPACT SOLIDIFYING METHOD FOR SUPERHARD MATERIAL POWDER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3739194
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a uniform solidified member without generating inside cracks by setting the heating temp. of raw material powder to a specified temp. range and using an explosive having the detonating velocity of ≥ a specified value.
SOLUTION: The heating of raw material powder is executed for facilitating the plastic deformation of the powder. In the case superhard material powder is composed of cubic boron nitride or diamond as the main raw material, the heating temp. is regulated to at least 900 to 1200°C. Moreover, as the explosive to be used, the one having a relatively high detonating rate is effective for increasing the pressurizing force thereof. At the above heating temp., as the pressurizing force, about 30 GPa shall be attained, and, at least, as the detonation velocity, ≥8000 m per sec is required. The raw material powder is previously charged into a charging vessel, and the initial charging density is preferably regulated into the range of 0.60 to 0.65.
