Title:
HIGHLY CORROSION-RESISTANT CERAMIC-COATED ALLOY AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06228729
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide superior corrosion resistance to a stainless steel alloy or a nickel-base alloy, used under a severe environment such as nuclear reactor, and to prevent the occurrence of intergranular stress corrosion cracking, etc.

CONSTITUTION: Ceramic coating is applied to the surface of a stainless steel alloy or a nickel-base alloy by thermally spraying a ceramic material, consisting of ZrO2 containing 4-7 mole % Y2O3 on the surface of the alloy, by which a highly corrosion-resistant ceramic-coated alloy having high corrosion resistance even under a severe environment such as nuclear reactor can be obtained. Although the above ceramic coating can be applied directly to the alloy surface, it can also be done after chromium electrolytic plating. In the case where ceramic coating is done after chromium electrolytic plating, the alloy surface is successively subjected to chromium ion irradiation, to chromium electrolytic plating, and further to thermal spraying with the ceramic material, by which the ceramic-coated alloy having higher corrosion resistance can be obtained.
