Abstract:

To provide a useful compound exhibiting PPAR (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor) operating activity and/or PPAR operating activity.

A highly unsaturated fatty acid derivative or analogue represented by formula (I) is provided. In formula (I), R1 is hydrogen, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxyl group, an acyloxy group, or a halogen; R2 is a hydrogen, or R1 and R2 are each a halogen or an alkoxyl group, or R1 and R2 may be combined together to form a carbonyl group; R3 is hydrogen, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxyl group, or an acyloxy group; R4 is hydrogen or R3 and R4 may be combined to together form a carbonyl group; R5 is hydrogen, a hydroxyl, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkynyl, a halogen, an aryl, an acyloxy, or an alkoxyl group; and R6 is hydrogen, an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkynyl, an aryl, or an alkoxyl group.
