In the hinge device for connecting an apparatus body and a lid so as to allow opening and closing by turning, a hinge generates friction torque during turning of a rotary shaft by fitting engagement of an outer circumferential face of the rotary shaft having spring characteristics, and an inner circumferential face of a fixed tube holding the rotary shaft. A protruding part is provided on one part of the fixed tube, and by engagement of the protruding part and a protrusion provided on the rotary shaft, retainment torque of an opened or closed position is generated in opening or closing of the apparatus body and the lid.
