PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge which prevents the sudden drop of an opening/closing body in the course of closing, and is miniaturized in form, and to provide an image input/output device using the hinge.
SOLUTION: The hinge is formed of a cylindrical case 14, a turning body 11, a wedge body, an elastic member, a sliding surface 147, and a sliding portion 113. The cylindrical case 14 is attached to one of a main body and the opening/closing body of the image input/output device. The turning body 11 equipped with a cam 112 is attached to the other one of the main body and the opening/closing body, and supported in a turnable manner by mutually facing side wall edges of the case 14. The wedge body is reciprocatingly housed in the case 14, and has a slope which makes sliding contact with the cam 112 when the turning body 11 is rotated. The elastic body is housed in the case 14 to energize the wedge body to the turning body 11. The sliding surface 147 is formed on the inner wall of the case 14, on one side of a turning shaft of the turning body 11 closer to the wedge body, and concavely curved conforming to a parallel moving locus of a line segment almost in parallel with the turning shaft. The sliding portion 113 is formed on the turning body 11 and makes sliding contact with the sliding surface 147 when the turning body 11 is rotated.
