The holding type optical apparatus constituted so that an effect caused by the vibration of a hand can be compensated is provided with a shake detection part 3 detecting the vibration state of the above apparatus and a shake prevention driving control part 4 obtained by arranging a movable member having a prescribed actuating range and set for controlling the attitude of the above apparatus based on the output of the detection part 3. When the detection part 3 approaches the terminating end part of the actuating range, a warning showing the limit of compensation is issued by vibrating the above apparatus in a prescribed state through a holding part 8 by a holding part driving part 5 under the control of the warning driving control part 6 of the apparatus.
