Abstract:
To provide a hollow ball for mold filling which is hard to be crushed even being reutilized, is light in weight, is also inexpensive, and is suitable as a filler, and to provide a casting method using the hollow ball for mold filling.
A hollow ball for mold filling whose material is made of iron, iron oxide or spinel structure ferrite, and having an apparent density of 0.2 to 2.5 g/cm3 is filled into a filling space 2 at the back of a facing sand layer 3 in an amount of ≥10 vol.% to cast a casting.
