Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance circularity and impart smooth surface by arranging a plurality of strands on the same circumference, and placing a wire rod, identical to or different from the strands in material, in a formed hollow without adverse effects of compression from an external layer. SOLUTION: Strands 1 are arranged on the same circumference. A plurality of strands 2 are made to pass through a compressing die while being twisted in one direction, thereby forming a hollow portion (a portion having a cavity at the center thereof). Consequently, it is possible to provide a hollow compressed strand having a smooth peripheral surface without unevenness as well as keeping the hollow in shape without crumbling. In this case, when twisted yarn 5 is placed in the hollow portion while the hollow compressed strand is formed, the twisted yarn 5 in the hollow portion are not effected at all by an external layer even though the peripheral surface is affected by the compress die to deform a contact surface. The placing of the twisted yarn 5 in the hollow portion can enhance breaking load characteristics and bending characteristics.
