To lower the driving power necessary for the operation of a membrane filtration treatment and to enhance filtration treatment efficiency by disposing a head difference between the primary side and secondary side of a hollow fiber membrane module and arranging the primary side and secondary side of the module and specifying the membrane density in the filter section of the module to a specific value.
This hollow fiber membrane filter device for executing a sepn. of solid from liquid in water treatment, etc., has a hollow fiber membrane module 3 and air diffusion pipe 5 in a treating vessel 1 and subjects the liquid to be treated which is injected into the treating vessel 1 to the sepn. of the solid from the liquid by passing the liquid through the module 3. The treated liquid is discharged outside the treating vessel 1 through piping 2. At this time, the module 3 is provided with the head difference between the primary side which is the liquid to be treated inlet side and the secondary side which is the treated liquid outlet side by formation of the piping 2 to an inverted U pipe, etc. The module 3 is arranged within the treating vessel 1. The piping 2 is provided with a deaerating means 4, such as vacuum pump in the mid-way thereof. The membrane density of the module 3 is preferably set at 100 at 500 m2/m3.
