PURPOSE: To clean a hollow member without using an org. solvent causing environmental disruption by dipping the member in a cleaning tank provided with an ultrasonic wave generator and injecting a cleaning soln. contg. a neutral or alkaline degreaser from a cleaning nozzle to remove the contaminant of the member.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow member 24 such as a pipe is conveyed by a conveyor 25 and dipped in a cleaning tank 1, a cleaning soln. contg. a degreaser is injected into the member 24 from a nozzle 23 for cleaning the inside of the pipe by operating an ultrasonic wave generator 3 to remove the contaminant such as oil, turnings and dust depositing on the inner face. The member 24 is taken out above the tank 1 and drained by the compressed air blown out of first and second nozzles 27 and 28. Meanwhile, a cleaning soln. 2 is injected from a water current generator 22 at the upper part of the tank 1 to produce a surface-layer water current flowing toward an overflow tank, and the contaminant flowing on the soln. 2 is discharged into the overflow tank.
