Abstract:
To provide a hologram illumination device and a hologram display device that make divergent light incident from a side surface of a light guide plate having a larger effective area than before.SOLUTION: A hologram illumination device 11 that irradiates an image reproducing hologram 16 with illumination light includes a light source 12, a light guide plate 14 that transmits light from the light source 12, an illumination holographic optical element that reproduces the illumination light upon the reception of at least a part of light transmitting on the light guide plate 14, and an optical system that makes the light from the light source incident into an incidence surface of a side surface of the light guide plate 14 as divergent light in a plan view. In the plan view, the light guide plate 14 has an approximately polygonal shape as a whole. A stereoscopic image in which the center axis of the divergent light is disposed so as to be oblique to a side of the approximately polygonal shape of the light guide plate is recorded.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
