Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily allow the floating of an object from a two-dimensional plane image by matching a previously prepd. stereoscopic model to an extracted object image, subjecting the object image to texture mapping to the stereoscopic model while rotating the same and outputting image equiv. to the image when the object is observed from an arbitrary direction.

CONSTITUTION: An image rotating and outputting section 14 rotates the stereoscopic model approximated most to the object selected by an object image rotating section 12. The stereoscopic model after this rotation is subjected to the texture mapping operation of various density information or color information of the object image by using a computer graphic technique and the plane image equiv. to the image obtd. by observing the object from the arbitrary angle is outputted. Further, a space optical modulator 18 converts the incoherent RGB components outputted by RGB filters 16 to coherent light. The objective in one sheet of the input image is easily stereoscopically displayed in this way by using the preregistered data relating to the object desired to be stereoscopically viewed.
