PURPOSE: To enable finish rolling under specified temp. conditions by measuring the longitudinal temp. distribution of the bloom in the finish rolling stage of a continuous hot rolling line at the fixed place of a continuous finishing mill and changing the heating conditions of a heating lamp in accordance with the measured distribution.
CONSTITUTION: The high temp. blooms 1 cut from a continuous casting ingot are successively heated in a heating furnace 2 and are bloomed in the 1st and the 2nd blooming mills 5, 6, whereafter the blooms are finish-rolled with a continuous rolling mill 11. The temp. of the blooms 1''' in the midway of rolling to be measured with a radiation thermometer 12 is so controlled as to attain a specified value. The target temp. pattern Q of the blooms 1 in the stage of ejection is set by considering the target temp. θ thereof, the temp. fall rate from the ejection of the blooms 1 from the furnace 2 until the blooms are rolled with the mill 11 and the deviation occurring in the time difference of the rolling between the front and rear ends T and B. The pattern Q is achieved by changing the heating conditions of the furnace 2 in accordance with the temp. pattern, for example, R of the blooms 1''' measured with the thermometer 12.
