To obtain a hot-melt compsn. of induction heating type excellent in waterproofness by compounding an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer with specified amts. of a tackifier and a reduced iron powder.
100 pts.wt. ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer having an m.p. of about 80-100°C and a melt flow rate of about 10-100g/10min is compounded with 20-200 pts.wt. tackifier (e.g. a synthetic polyterpene) and 200-750 pts.wt. reduced iron powder having a particle size of about 75-100μm, and if necessary further compounded with 0.1-3 pts.wt. antioxidant (e.g. a hindered polyphenol) and 1-100 pts.wt. wax. The resultant compsn. is kneaded with a kneader, etc., at about 60-80°C to give a hot-melt compsn. of an induction heating type which exhibits a temp. rise rate of about 2°C/sec under normal induction heating. The hot-melt compsn. gives a wire collector which has a complicated profile and is used for collecting soft-vinyl-coated wires.
