Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and safely obtain a new mannitol having excellent compoundability and moldability while keeping inherent chemical and biological properties and useful as shaping agents by bringing δ-type D-mannitol crystals into contact with a water-soluble medium.
SOLUTION: The objective mannitol has about ≥1m2/g specific surface area and is preferably a mixture of δ-type crystals and β-type crystals. The mannitol is obtained by treating (B) δ type D-mannitol crystals with (A) a water-soluble medium (e.g. purified water, ethanol, a mixture of those, etc.). It is preferable to use about 3-70w/w% of the component A based on the component B. The mannitol is preferably used as a solid composition containing (C) an medicinally active ingredient.
