Abstract:
PURPOSE:To accurately measure the air suction amount in a high-load operation area by providing a sampling tube in a flowmeter main body, arranging a hot wire flowmeter and a temperature sensor on it, and further arranging a straightening vane on its upstream side. CONSTITUTION:The flowmeter main body 6a is interposed in the air suction passage 3 of an engine and the sampling tube 6b is provided vertically through a bracket 6c. A temperature compensating resistance RK is arranged on the upstream side of the tube 6b and a hot wire RB is arranged on the downstream side. When this hot wire RB is cooled by air suction, its hot wire resistance varies and this variation is temperature-compensated by the resistance RK to detect the air suction amount electrically. A straightening vane 6d in the same shape with the tube 6b is joined with the upstream side end part of the tube 6b and a straightening vane 6e (which has its downstream-side internal end part 6b spread in a taper shape) is joined similarly with the downstream end part. Consequently, an air suction flow in the tube 6b becomes a laminar flow and the tube 6b is formed in a rectangular shape which is vertically long, so the flow velocity distribution of the suction flow is hemi-elliptic. Consequently, a measurement of the flow rate by the hot wire RB at the time of high-load operation is accurately taken.
