To provide a controlling method for a drum type washing-drying machine which prevents a large amount of detergent foams generated in a washing process from flowing into an air blowing duct for performing a drying process.

A duct shutter 81 is provided in a vicinity of an air suction port 11 of a heated air blowing duct 13 which is connected with the air suction port 11 provided on the bottom surface of a water tub 3. At least when the washing process is performed, the duct of the heated air blowing duct 13 is closed by the duct shutter 81, and thus, even when a large amount of detergent foams are generated in the water tub 3, and flowed out from the air suction port 11, detergent foams are prevented from entering the heated air blowing duct 13 or a heat pump unit 20. When the drying process is performed, the circulation of air for drying is not obstructed if the duct shutter 81 is opened.
