Abstract:
To provide a method for producing rice plants having developed lateral roots without suppressing elongation of main roots, and to provide a method for developing lateral roots of rice plants.
The method for producing rice plants having developed lateral roots includes culturing transformed rice plant developing EL5 having variance in a medium containing less than 1 mM of a nitrate or less than 10 mM of an ammonium salt as a nitrogen source under conditions suitable for growth of wild type rice plants to give rice plants having lateral roots longer than those of wild type rice plants cultured under the conditions and/or a larger number of lateral roots.
