Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of distinguishing microorganisms from scattered light patterns of microbial colonies using a lensless imaging system.SOLUTION: A method distinguishes microbes using a lensless imaging system that uses a photo sensor and comprises: a step of culturing a sample including the microbes in a culture vessel placed above the photo sensor and imaging colonies that formed during the incubation period over time; a step of calculating, from characteristics extracted from a plurality of colony-forming images, at least three parameters including colony maximum growth rate μand relative average luminance, or at least two parameters including at least deviation G of a histogram and donut properties D, or donut properties D and image entropy H; and a step of identifying the microbe by referencing and making comparisons on a database created beforehand with parameters calculated for each known microbe.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
