Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correctly forming a carrier tape for housing electronic constituent parts into a desired shape.SOLUTION: The method for forming the carrier tape for housing electronic constituent parts comprises the steps of: disposing a part of a thermoplastic tape between a first metal die part and a second metal die part; engaging the first metal die part and the second metal die part with each other in such a state that the thermoplastic tape is held therebetween; supplying ultrasonic energy to the first metal die part to form at least one pocket in the thermoplastic tape; disengaging the first metal die part and the second metal die part from each other; and removing the thermoplastic tape, in which at least one pocket is formed, from the disengaged first and second metal die parts.
